Thanksgiving Traditions

Thanksgiving has become a very special holiday for us as we've created so many wonderful memories together as a family!  Here are some of our favorite traditions to our Thanksgiving weekend!
Each year, the boys always receive ornaments from nana and GG and grandma and grandpa at Thanksgiving. These guys will have collected so many great ones by the time they get old enough to have a tree of their own! Super fun!
We also enjoy running in the Turkey trot at our local gym, Mainstreet Fitness, here in Menomonie Wi.  We always ask the boys which race they'd like to do, the 5k or the 1.5 mile run/walk. This year Drew and Kyle took on the 5k and the rest of the boys and I participated in the 1.5mile. Here is our warm up pic!
We are ready to rock it!! Weather was great.
Micah and Caleb took 1st and 2nd place in the 1.5mile and had lots of fun running together! We had hot cocoa and coffees after and gave everyone high 5's and wished them a happy thanksgiving. We have really enjoyed doing this as a family and the boys like going and running together.

Then we were off to take showers and get ready for family to come and celebrate Thanksgiving! We usually try to eat a nice thanksgiving meal around noon. We always have a great day of doing crafts, watching and playing football, watching a movie together, eating pies and cookies, going for walks and heating up some pizzas before everyone heads home.
Kyle and I really enjoy hosting and having everyone to our home to be together.
So much to be thankful for.
The day after Thanksgiving we've all enjoyed the tradition of going and cutting down our christmas tree. We even found a great one right away this year! Great find boys!!
Kyle put the boys to work.  Love all those smiles and seeing the boys work together to pull the tree all the way down to the tree shaker machine.
Of course we could never leave without having popcorn and hot cocoa to top off our special morning!
Saying hi to Santa and Mrs. Clause on our way out was a fun surprise! So fun to hear what the boys tell Santa they want- sounds like it will be a nerf gun christmas at our house!
Some of us like talking to Santa a bit more then the rest of us- nice work Micah!!
Decorating our tree is so much fun as we put up all our ornaments from school we made or been given from grandparents. I love capturing the boys putting on the ornaments...

Our tree is complete!! We had a wonderful weekend doing many of our favorite traditions as a family. Traditions unite us as a family and bring us to many conversations that lead to much laughter as we remember silly things we've done together. It's in these moments that remind us how important family is. Thankful!
