6 weeks no running!

Image
6  weeks- and I feel like I am doing OK. Trying to stay positive even though I really miss running a lot. It is crazy how life can change so quickly and take away the things you love. This is why I have found it so important to stay grounded in my faith- so when everything changes whether in circumstances, relationships, jobs, families, etc.... My foundation is in my relationship with Christ, that never changes.  The Lord is my ROCK.  My Shield  My Stronghold. psalms 18 The weather has been so beautiful! I am thankful for what I can do each day and that I continue to show up for myself in new ways, giving my body a chance to fully heal.  I can tell by how I am healing, that I will return STRONG and enjoy racing again soon.... just gotta be patient.

So thankful Drew and Micah told us they were flying home for Caleb! I've got incredible boys. Nice to have Lynn and Wes come see Caleb too! So nice to see them.  It went fast...   Caleb James  So much fun celebrating his senior season of football last week. It was such a fun season for him and so many memories were made.  The Senior Offensive line. Senior poster of our Bubba! Caleb is such a hard worker and loyal to his team. He loved putting in hours of hard work and being with the guys. His consistent dedication throughout high school really helped him grow into such an awesome guy. His heart for God and doing ALL things for the glory of Christ was incredible to see too. Caleb, you are such an incredible athlete, but more importantly your heart for working hard and prioritizing the best things shines brighter!  Very very proud of you. Mom

New Systems

I am starting on 4 weeks now into this journey of healing.... and I have found some new systems that are working to help keep my body moving but also giving my stress fracture time to recover. It took me a little time to get adjusted to doing new activities after coming off such high running miles. I'll be back to running again, but for now these New Systems are in place! 1- Sleep. I have been sleeping a lot. At least 8-9hours a night. Giving my body true rest has been helping.  2- Swimming. 3-4 times a week. I like swimming laps way better then aqua jogging! 3- Walking. Not for exercise quite yet, but for movement. It has been so pretty outside lately, and I am really enjoying just strolling the neighborhood or trails and getting needed fresh air. 4- Upper body work!+core Lifting my upper body at the gym a few days a week. 5- yoga- just added this back in and it is helping a lot with mobility. I am trying to enjoy the rest and beauty around me doing new things, but it still...
