Camping at Devils Lake State Park
Just got home from our first official camping trip to Devils Lake State Park in Wisconsin. It was a true success as we all had a great time camping and hiking together. The weather was great for cooking over the fire in the evening and swimming at the beach in the afternoon. Kyle and I were a little unsure how our littlest camper Caleb would hold up but he was fabulous!
Andrew, being our typical first born and leader of the pack, got out our map in the mornings to tell us what hike we would be doing and got the backpack filled with snacks and water bottles. It was so fun for Kyle and I to watch how excited he was to be camping and seeing him take charge.
Micah took on the "whatever" attitude and followed along with Andrew and the plan. However Micah loved being the hiking leader and made sure mommy was feeling ok and reminded us that we needed to take a break soon.
Caleb being the 2 year old that he is and the baby of the group lived in the moment and hopped most of his way through the trails. When it came time to take a break he loved Andrew's packed snacks and drinking lots of water.
I found it so enjoyable to watch our family all take their own role and see how God has brought this amazing family together. Although overloaded with boys, I am truly blessed by the family God is creating. We are all looking forward to and talking lots about our newest little guy coming in October. I wonder what personality he will have? What will his role be in being the youngest bro of 4?
Kyle and I are talking about doing many more camping trips with our boys in the future as they all love being outdoors and doing the "simple things." Our goal as parents is to continue this contagious love for nature and awe to God's creation.
